Area of a Kite Calculator

Area of a Kite Calculator is an online tool that helps to quickly find the kite's area and perimeter. it used the trigonometric formula to get the kite's area as well.

Geometrical Explanation of Kite

A kite is a quadrilateral shape from a geometric perspective, and it has two pairs of adjacent sides that are of equal length and two pairs of opposite angles that are likewise of equal length.

The two diagonals of a kite intersect at a point called the "kite point" which is the midpoint of the longer diagonal.

The diagonal of Kite

In geometry, the diagonal is a line that connects two non-adjacent vertices of a polygon or quadrilateral. In the case of a kite, there are two diagonals, each connecting opposite vertices of the quadrilateral.

The longer diagonal of a kite is called the "main diagonal (d1)" while the shorter diagonal is called the "cross diagonal (d2)".

The “kite point” where the two diagonals intersect is the midpoint of the longer diagonal.

Formulas of area and perimeter of kite

For finding area

Area of kite = 1/2 × d1 × d2

Where

  • d1 and d2 are the length of the diagonal of a kite.

For finding area using trigonometry

Area of Kite Using Trigonometry = a × b × Sin(C)

For finding perimeter

Perimeter of kite = 2(a + b)

Where

  • a” and “b” are the adjacent lengths of the kite and “C” is the angle between the diagonals.

How to calculate the area and perimeter of the kite?

Example:

Find the area and perimeter of the kite if its larger length is 10 units and its smaller length is 7 units while the length of the side is 15 and 12.

Solution:

Step 1: Write the data from the above.

d1 = 10, d2 = 7, a = 15, b = 12,

Area of kite =?

Perimeter of kite =?

Step 2: Write the formula of the Area and Perimeter of a kite.

Area of kite = 1/2 × d1 × d2

While, Perimeter of kite = 2(a + b)

Step 3: Put the values from “step 1” in the above formulas carefully.

Area of Kite:

d1 = 10, d2 = 7

Area of kite = 1/2 × d1 × d2

Area of kite = 1/2 × 10 × 7

Area of kite = 1/2 × 70

Area of kite = 35

The perimeter of Kite:

a = 15, b = 12

Perimeter of kite = 2(a + b)

Perimeter of kite = 2(15 + 12)

Perimeter of kite = 2(27)

Perimeter of kite = 54
