What are feet and inches?

Feet and inches are the units of measurement of length. Feet is a bigger unit than inches. One feet contains 12 inches and one inch is 1/12^th of the feet. We have easily shifted feet to inches and inches to feet.

Example 1:

Add the values 6 feet 7 inches to 31 feet 6 inches.

Solution:

Step 1: First we add the inches together

7+6=13 inches

Step 2: Convert the inches into feet

13 inches = 1 foot 1 inch

Step 3: Now add feet together

6+31+1 = 38 feet.

Step 4: so we have

38 feet 1 inch.

Example 2:

Subtract 31 feet 7 inches from 60 feet 6 inches.

Solution:

Step 1: First we subtract the inches; we take carry 12 inches from the feet to carry the procedure

12+6= 18 inches

Now subtract

18-7= 11 inches

Step 2: Now subtract the values of feet

60 feet is now 59 feet because we take one carry.

59-31=28 feet
Step 3: Hence the answer is

28 feet 11 inches.

Example 3:

Multiply 2 feet 6 inches with 3 feet 2 inches.

Solution:

Step 1: The best way to multiplication, we have converted all values into inches.

2 feet 6 inches= 2(12) +6 = 30 inches

3 feet 2 inches= 3(12) +2 = 38 inches

Step 2: Now multiply, we have

30 × 38 = 1140 inches

Step 3: Now convert the answer into feet, by dividing by 12.

1140/12= 95 feet

Example 4:

Divide 30 feet 2 inches to 2 feet 6 inches.

Solution:

Step 1: The best way to division, we have converted all values into inches.

30(12) +2= 362 inches

2(12) +6= 30 inches

Step 2: Now divide 362 inches by 30 inches we have

12.067 inches

Step 3: covert the inches into feet we have

1 foot 0.6 inches
